One of the best ways to know a good transport company from a bad one is to verify a company’s USDOT license and insurance. A reputable company will have their licenses and insurance posted on their website with direct links to USDOT / FMCSA. You can also check reviews on website such as Uship.com
We would request that you book your transport date as early as possible; preferably at least 1 week in advance to ensure time enough to meet all your shipping needs. Usually pick up can me made anywhere from 2 to 4 days, but we can also accommodate anyone with immediate shipping needs. In these situations, we can more than likely have your vehicle picked up within 1 to 2 days. Delivery will just depend on the distance and the trucks’ schedule.
Normally it takes an average of 2-4 days to get a truck to your location for pickup, but we also accomodate rush jobs, i.e. auctions. After the vehicle is picked up, the average estimated time in transit will depend on the distance between point A and point B.
Here at Heartland Shipping, the most common method is the door-to-door delivery which allows for your vehicle to be picked up from its current location and delivered directly to the location of your choosing. If you live in an area that is not safely accessible to our transport trucks, you may be required to meet the transport driver at a nearby location that can accommodate the truck.
Yes your vehicle is insured up to $100,000. We email you an Order Confirmation explaining the whole process upon entering your order either online or with one of our representatives.
Once your vehicle is Assigned, it usually gets picked up within a day or two (sometimes same day) of the assignment. That information also gets emailed to you. Then our driver calls your pickup contact.
When the driver picks up your vehicle for shipping, he will do a detailed examination on the Bill of Lading and Vehicle Inspection Report. You will both sign that form and you should receive a copy.
The driver will call again from the road, this time your destination contact, as he gets closer so as to schedule an approximate time for delivery. The Bill of Lading and Vehicle Inspection Report will be there upon delivery so that your contact can re-inspect the car.
Clean out your vehicle of all loose items as much as possible. Put nothing of value in the vehicle.
Unfortunately, your car and its trunk compartment must be free of all personal belongings. There are several reasons for this. The primary of those reasons is that the Department of Transportation does not allow for the transportation of “personal items” in a car that is being hauled by an “Auto Carrier”.
So please, DO NOT have any personal items in your vehicle when it is picked up or dropped off for shipment.
Yes, we do require that either yourself or another designated party be present upon pick-up of your vehicle.
A contract known as the “bill of loading” will need to be signed by you once the vehicle has been loaded for shipment.
